Wood Chipper Safety

This course is designed to train operators on all aspects of safe wood chipper operation. Regardless of the level of experience, participants can benefit from the thorough manner in which all government and industry standards are addressed.

This course will discuss different types of wood chippers, with the focus on the style(s) that the participants use.

The classroom component of this course will include (but will not be limited to) a theoretical approach to the following topics:

  • Worker Responsibilities
  • Design Principles
  • Inspection (What to Look For)
  • Controls and Safety Features
  • Identification of Hazards
  • Correct Operating Procedures

The practical component of this course will include:

  • Machine Inspection
  • Use of Log Book or Circle Check Forms
  • Operating Procedures (Refueling, Maintenance and Cleaning, Etc.)
  • Operation of Equipment (Run-through of All Functions)
