Occupational Health and Safety Awareness

Intola Safety offers half day and full day courses that focus on the responsibilities of all parties in Ontario workplaces. The training has been developed in accordance with O. Reg. 297/13 and includes:

  • Outlining worker duties as defined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Outlining supervisor duties as defined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Outlining employer duties as defined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Reviewing worker rights
  • Discussing the role of the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) within a safe and healthy workplace
  • This program is aimed at any and every worker, regardless of job title or designation. Upon completion, participants will:

  • Understand duties as defined in the OHSA and how these duties link together – worker, supervisor and employer
  • Learn about the rights of workers and be able to explain how supervisors and employers support these rights
  • Know how to contribute to making the workplace healthy and safe
  • Be comfortable accessing sources of information about health and safety, including the OHSA
  • Intola Safety is committed to providing site and job-specific training, and can meet any demands. Regardless of experience, all participants will gain valuable knowledge from this course.

As with all other services offered, Intola Safety includes an explanation of the laws and regulations currently in place to protect workers.

The classroom component of the session includes visual materials including pictures and videos, and culminates with a knowledge verification component (written test).

Whenever possible, the session will include additional components where participants can demonstrate effective communication strategies and interpersonal skills.

Participants are encouraged to follow the policies and procedures that they use in their specific workplace. For this reason, any paperwork or templates (policies, SOPs, incident reports, etc.) should be made available in advance for training purposes. If necessary, Intola Safety can provide consultation on any of these areas.
